Manny Pacquiao number one one Yahoo! Philippines top searches? No doubt. If there was one Filipino that mostly everyone in the world knew, that would be Manny Pacquiao (even PGMA has no match against him). Having gotten his seventh world title in boxing, he is now the world’s number pound for pound boxer (not that Gayweather, right?). Not to mention that fact that, in the Philippines, during his previous fights, the country seemed to stop–everyone’s eyes are on his/her TV screen or computer monitor, no traffic, and if I’m not mistaken no criminal incidents on those days. Typhoon Ondoy left us all devastated. Maybe even shocked. The amount of rain that would normally fall in two weeks made its way to the Philippines in just three hours. Then came Peping. Jacqueline Bermejo? She’s the woman behind the controversial selfish and insensitive shoutout on Facebook about typhoon Ondoy that made many Filipinos cursed her. That’s what most people know about her.
I tried to look for more information about Jacque over the internet but search results would just lead me to pages with offensive comments against her–commenters were actually wishing she was dead. Many have reached out to the victims of typhoon Ondoy. Hollywood celebrities like Demi Moore tweeted for help. Local stars like Jericho Rosales and Gerald Anderson braved the floodwater to rescue their neighbors. Call center agents (like me) were asked for monetary donations through salary deductions. When I made a post yesterday about Jacqueline Bermejo, I forgot to take into consideration the phrase “benefit of the doubt.” I wrote: “The worst thing you can do to your nation is to betray your fellow countrymen. Many celebrities have already done their part to help the victims of typhoon Ondoy. Some used twitter to ask for help. Some braved the flood water to rescue their neighbors even if they are “stars.” I also did my part this morning when I was forced to donate an amount to be deducted from my salary on the 15th. Joke. I did it in my own free will. What I donated isn’t enough. So I’ll be reblogging what pinoy chuva already posted.

I got to know about this when I checked on my email this morning. Mikey Arroyo was caught buying alcoholic drinks while typhoon Ondoy was raging around Metro Manila. I’m not sure though whether it’s really he. The picture is kind of blurry. If this was ever true, then shame on him!

Enough of Jacqueline Bermejo. She’s someone unworthy to waste our precious time for. If we’d have to waste it, that should be for people who, despite of their social status, chose to risk their lives for others’ sake–even if they were celebrities.
Gerald Anderson and Jericho Rosales were caught in their heroics of saving some victims of typhoon Ondoy. Jericho, being a surfer, well, used his surfboard.
